We have not yet verified how travellers currently reach Libya from the airport serving it, so we are not publishing routes, operators or fares we cannot stand behind. For what is running on the day you travel, the arrivals information published by your arrival airport is the reliable source, and your accommodation will usually know what works best for the hour you land.
Helpful Tips
Download Careem. It works. Reliable ride-hailing in Tripoli and Benghazi when taxis vanish. Tap. Wait. Ride.
Louage minibuses leave when full. Ask locals. They know the station. Between major cities, this is the way.
Mitiga Airport. Private drivers wait. Fixed-price rides to city center. Negotiate before you sit.
Cash only. Libyan dinars. Cards fail. Foreign currency ignored. Carry bills. Count them.
Common Scams to Avoid
Unofficial porters at Tripoli International Airport insist on handling luggage and then demand inflated tips. Firmly decline any unsolicited help and keep your bags in sight.
Taxi touts inside the arrivals hall quote fares several times the metered rate and may claim the official taxi stand is closed. Walk past them to the clearly marked taxi queue outside and insist on the meter or pre-arrange transport through your hotel.
Currency-exchange booths just beyond customs advertise 'no commission' but use a deliberately poor rate without showing the calculation. Compare the offered rate with the official central-bank figure on your phone and walk away if the gap is wide.
